Roofing Quote Form Template — Price by Area, Pitch and Material
Area × material rate, adjusted by pitch and access, with removal and roof features priced per unit. Best when the final number depends on measurements the homeowner already knows.
Overview
Roofing is the clearest example of a service where the price is arithmetic, not a judgement call. A homeowner knows the approximate footprint of their roof, the material they want and whether the old covering has to come off. Those three answers already produce a defensible budget range.
The mistake most roofing forms make is asking for a free-text description and promising "a quote within 24 hours". That converts the form into an email, and the visitor into a lead waiting for a callback. A priced form does the opposite: it shows the maths, explains what is still unknown, and only then invites the visitor to book the inspection that confirms it.
Best for
Roofers, roof repair crews and exterior contractors who quote by the square metre but still need an inspection for steep or unusual roofs.
The field list
Every question below earns its place: it changes the price, the visit or the crew. If a question does none of the three, leave it out.
| Field | Type | Why it is asked |
|---|---|---|
| Roof type | Select (single) | Pitched and flat roofs use different systems and different crews. The answer hides the questions that do not apply. |
| Roof area (m²) | Number | The per-unit basis for the whole estimate. Ask for the footprint and explain that the final area is measured on site. |
| Roof pitch | Select (single) | A multiplier, not a line item: steeper roofs need staging, harnesses and more labour hours per square metre. |
| Roofing material | Select (single) | Sets the rate per m². Shingles, metal, clay tile and slate are not interchangeable and should never share one price. |
| Building height | Select (single) | Access cost. Three storeys and above adds scaffolding and a longer setup, so it is priced as a percentage. |
| Remove old roof? | Yes / No | Removal and disposal is a separate per-m² rate. Hiding it behind "labour included" is how estimates turn into disputes. |
| Skylights and chimneys | Number (two fields) | Each opening interrupts the covering and needs flashing. Price per unit, not a vague "extras". |
| Emergency inspection | Checkbox | A paid, next-day visit. It changes the promised slot and adds a flat fee instead of pretending urgency is free. |
| Postcode | Text | Travel zone and, for some crews, a weather or permit area. Keep it short and never ask for a full address at quote time. |
| Roof photos | File upload (optional) | A photo of the worst slope often decides whether the visitor needs a repair visit or a replacement quote. |
Price rules
Each row is one option in the builder with the operation attached to it. The example column is the arithmetic you should see in the live total; use it to check your own configuration before publishing.
| Option | Rule | Worked example |
|---|---|---|
| Asphalt shingles | +45 per m² | 120 m² × 45 = 5,400 |
| Metal standing seam | +70 per m² | 120 m² × 70 = 8,400 |
| Clay tile | +90 per m² | 120 m² × 90 = 10,800 |
| Natural slate | +140 per m² | 120 m² × 140 = 16,800 |
| Standard pitch (20–35°) | × 1.10 | 5,400 × 1.10 = 5,940 |
| Steep pitch (36–45°) | × 1.25 | 5,400 × 1.25 = 6,750 |
| Very steep (46°+) | × 1.45 | 5,400 × 1.45 = 7,830 |
| Remove old covering | +18 per m² when yes | 120 × 18 = 2,160 |
| Three storeys or more | +12% access | 6,750 × 0.12 = 810 |
| Skylight | +140 each | 2 × 140 = 280 |
| Chimney flashing | +90 each | 1 × 90 = 90 |
| Emergency inspection | +75 flat | 75 |
The amounts are illustrative, not a price list. Replace them with your own cost base and currency before publishing — and keep the order of the rules, because a percentage applied to the wrong subtotal changes every total downstream.
Conditional logic
Conditional rules keep the form short without losing the information. Add them in the order below and test each trigger before you publish.
If Roof type is flat
Then Hide roof pitch; show membrane layers to remove and a drainage question. Flat roofs are priced by system, not by slope.
If Material is natural slate
Then Hide "remove old roof" and show "repair or replace". Slate is often repairable, and a replacement quote would mislead the visitor.
If Remove old roof is No
Then Hide the disposal question. Asking about disposal when nothing is removed is the fastest way to look like a form that was never tested.
If Roof area is over 250 m²
Then Replace the instant estimate with "book a site survey". Above that size the measurement uncertainty is too large for a self-serve number.
If Emergency inspection is checked
Then Show the next-day date picker and add the flat fee. Urgency changes the schedule, so it has to change the form.
Rebuild it in Clickobook
This is the build order we use. It ends with two test submissions, because a priced form is only correct when a total you calculated by hand matches the one on screen.
-
1
Open the form builder and create a section called "The roof", then add the first four fields (type, area, pitch, material) as single-choice and number questions with prices attached to the material and pitch options.
-
2
Add a second section called "Access and removal" with building height, old-roof removal, and the two opening counts. Keep it short — a quote form that feels like a survey loses the visitor halfway through.
-
3
Paste the price rules exactly as listed above. Use the plus operation for per-unit rates and the percentage operation for pitch and access, so changing the area or the pitch recalculates without editing every option.
-
4
Add the conditional rules in the order shown. Test each one by switching the answer that triggers it and watching both the question set and the running total change.
-
5
Attach the postcode and photo questions last, mark them optional, and explain in the field description that photos shorten the inspection.
-
6
Preview the public page on a phone. If the estimate and the "Book inspection" button are not visible without zooming, reduce the number of visible sections.
Three things that make this template convert
Show the estimate as a range (±10%), not a single figure. A roof measured from a footprint is an estimate, and saying so protects the price you quote later.
Put the material rate in the option label. "Clay tile — from 90/m²" answers the visitor's real question before they finish the form.
Send the submission to your CRM with the calculated total, not just the answers. The sales call starts from a number the customer already saw.
